Cocktails and shots are so over rated. For those of you who want to step up your game and add a little punch to your drinking habit (no pun intended)- now you can get drunk by simply scarfing down your favorite snacks. New York boozoligists have certainly toiled away to bring us some interesting new ways to escape the heat this summer…of course by getting drunk.
Absinthe Gummi Bears
Tailor
525 Broome
(between Thompson and Sullivan)
New York, NY 10013
www.tailornyc.com
First on the menu is absinthe gummi bears. The recently legalized, possibly hallucinogenic liquor can now be found in your favorite childhood candy. This is made possible by Tailor's in-house candy shop. Although they still have that adorable look to them, these new hybrid bears are nothing like the ones you picked up at the corner store. They are 85% absinthe with just a touch of sugar and gelatin.
Unfortunately, you can’t shove handfuls of these chewy alcoholic treats into your mouth. Because of the powerful punch, Tailor’s will only give you one bear perched on a spoon, beside your order of espresso.
Cocktail Popsicles
Counter
105 First Ave
(between 6th and 7th)
East Village
New York, NY 10003
www.counternyc.com

If perhaps that one beer didn’t do the trick, you can stop by Counter in the East Village to get a cocktail Popsicle; the holy grail of alcoholic kiddie food. This booze induced refreshment is definitely the solution to an impossibly hot New York summer day.
Each of these little icy shots has its own booze/fruit combo—you'll get a Blueberry Lemon Verbena Vodka pop, a Raspberry Prosecco pop and a Strawberry Mint Rum Daiquiri pop.
Crème Brulee Imperial Milk Stout
Whole Foods Bowery Beer Room
95 East Houston Street
Lower East Side
New York, NY 10002
www.wholefoodsmarket.com
For more of a sweet, yet powerful delight head to the whole foods beer room and pick up a few bottles of Crème Brulee Imperial Milk Stout. This is for you alchies with a sweet tooth looking for more of a dessert drink. Think of it this way- cream soda with a sting. This drink is stronger than some of your average beers; definitely buzz worthy.
