Bar Spotlight: Little Branch

By Jenny Prucnal

Fall is for everything festive and frightening. We make sure we're first in line for pumpkin lattes, indulge in cider doughnuts, and pick apples as the leaves change - and now we have the perfect place to go to warm up (and get our drink on.)

Little Branch, a speakeasy in the West Village, was founded by the late Sasha Petraske (owner of Milk & Honey among others) and has managed to capture the fall spirit in their specialty cocktails and hot beverages. A well-kept secret, Little Branch is discreetly located in a narrow, corner building. This cozy underground space has a lively, yet intimate feel. When the jazz band is playing it’s almost as if you’ve walked down the stairs and back into the 20’s. Dimly lit with candles, the vibe is relaxed but the narrow hall is filled with an exciting energy. The bartenders will create custom drinks to your liking, but the menu has a lot to offer as well - especially in regards to its fall selection.

Though there is quite the array of festive drinks to choose, including Mulled Cider and Toddies (honey lemon hot water with cinnamon and your choice of liquor), the Stone Fence is a crowd favorite. This Bourbon based drink is on the rocks, mixed with orchard fresh cider and topped off with a slice of apple and a cold metal straw. Stone Fence is crisp and refreshing, the perfect seasonal beverage. Walk along 7th avenue with your eyes peeled and the warm den with handcrafted cocktails will not disappoint.

No password is needed, but the secret is out, so you’ll want to get there early.
